Irem is an Assistant Professor of Marketing atCalifornia State University, Los Angeles.
Irem’s research focuses on multicultural market spaces and cross-cultural issues’ impact on consumer and societal well-being. She hopes to gain a deeper understanding of consumer behavior in rapidly transforming and diverse markets, observing cultural and global movements and contextual differences that impact consumers. Irem’s teaching interests include marketing research, global marketing, and consumer behavior.
Irem holds a Ph.D. degree in business administration from Wayne State University. She formerly graduated from Wellesley College with a bachelor's degree in economics and from Sabanci University with a master's degree in marketing. She previously worked at MIT with the Nobel laureate economist Esther Duflo, and at The World Bank with economist David McKenzie as a research assistant. Investing five years in the clinical side of marketing, working at Endeavor, and Shell; and across three continents, Europe, North America, and South America; she gained a unique perspective on global identity and global marketing.
